Notes
Another unexpectedly low-volume week, at least in biking.
Needed to travel all day on Saturday to see my in-laws. Normally I would move my Saturday long bike ride to Friday, which is my day off, but I was also travelling all day on Friday this week – I went down to Los Angeles to do a bike fitting with Jim at ERO Sports. So the long ride just didn’t happen at all this week.
The LA Velodrome, also the site of ERO Sports
I’m not too happy about missing my long ride, but it did end up having some nice side effects. My Sunday long run ended up being awesome! The best long run I’ve had in a long time. I can only imagine this was due to some combination of 1. having 2 full days off 2. doing my run before my swim for once (I almost always do my swim first), and 3. nice cool temperatures where I was running.
The gym where I would normally swim on Sunday was closed for the 4th of July holiday, so I wound up just doing some open water swimming for about an hour at a small local lake. The park and dock next to the lake were packed with families barbecuing and enjoying the holiday. After a few laps back and forth across the lake, a 10-ish year old girl sitting on the dock announced “you’re really good at swimming” as I was taking a rest.
When someone tells me I'm good at swimming
